A Visual Language to Help Close the Gender Data Gap

Visible Platform is an organisation dedicated to making TfL a safer place for all travellers, especially women and non-binary people. By collecting stories of sexual assaults, they aim to close the data gap that currently holds back research into public sexual assaults.

Their top stategic priority was encouraging more people to report sexual assaults via their typeform, but they were struggling to gain traction without a defined visual language or brand guidelines. As a small team made up of volunteers, the brand guidelines needed to be easily followed by any newcomers.

The end result champions data and action, empowering people with information and next steps without leading to outrage fatigue. The visual language is anchored by motifs instantly recognisable for TfL travellers, while the use of colour and type plays on the idea of the invisible becoming visible.
